The DDA Design Committee has dedicated significant effort over the past 18 months to the development of the Highland Station Boardwalk. This project is an important step forward in bringing our Highland Station Master Plan to life, and we’re thrilled to see it moving forward. As some of you may have noticed, Colasanti’s Plants and Produce Market demolished the old boardwalk during the summer months. We are excited to announce that the project has officially been awarded and is set to commence in February of 2025, with completion in the spring of 2025.

The new boardwalk will showcase the durable and modern 8’ wide Permatrak concrete decking system, which offers not only a sturdy surface but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the area. In addition to the decking, there will be new railings and panels designed to ensure pedestrian safety while complementing the overall design.

To further improve connectivity, approximately 130 linear feet of new sidewalks will be constructed, linking the updated boardwalk to the existing streetscape, which the DDA originally installed in 2013. This will enhance pedestrian access and provide a seamless transition between the two spaces, elevating the overall experience of the area. We’re excited to see this community-focused project come together and contribute to the continued growth and vitality of the Highland Station area.
